Frequently Asked Questions About Vegan Wedding Catering

Planning your wedding comes with a lot of decisions, and when it comes to food, it’s often one of the biggest (and sometimes most overwhelming).

Over the years, I’ve had so many conversations with couples, through emails, calls, and planning chats, and I’ve noticed the same questions come up time and time again.

So I thought I’d bring them all together here, along with how I usually guide couples through them.

“Will our non-vegan guests enjoy the food?”

This is by far the most common question I get, and completely understandable.

The short answer is: yes, absolutely.

Most of the weddings I cater are not fully vegan guest lists. It’s usually a mix, and often people who are unsure what to expect. What I focus on is creating food that feels familiar, abundant, and full of flavour, rather than anything that feels restrictive or “alternative.”

Time and time again, I see guests going back for seconds, asking questions about the food, and genuinely surprised by how much they’ve enjoyed it.

That’s always the goal, not to “convince” people, but simply to feed them well.

“Can we create a menu based on our favourite foods?”

Yes, and this is actually the heart of how I work.

Every wedding menu is completely bespoke. I don’t work from fixed packages, because every couple is different.

Some couples come to me with a really clear vision, dishes they love, flavours from their travels, or cultural influences they want to include. Others aren’t sure where to start, and that’s absolutely fine too.

We build the menu together, shaping something that feels personal, balanced, and exciting; while also making sure it works practically on the day.

“Can you cater for dietary requirements and allergies?”

Yes, always.

One of the things I’ve become very experienced in, especially through retreats and larger group catering, working with a wide range of dietary needs.

Whether it’s gluten-free, nut allergies, soy-free, or other specific requirements, I make sure every guest feels considered and included.

It’s something I take seriously, but also approach in a way that still keeps the food feeling abundant and enjoyable, not limited.

“How much does wedding catering cost?”

This is another question I get all the time, and the honest answer is: it really depends on what you’re looking for.

Because everything I do is bespoke, there isn’t a one-size-fits-all price. That said, most couples tend to spend anywhere between £25–£60+ per head, depending on the style and level of service.

"What affects the overall cost?"

  • Style of service – plated meals typically require more staff and time compared to buffets or sharing feasts

  • Hot vs cold food – hot food requires more equipment, prep, and on-site cooking

  • Set-up style – for example, a festival-style set-up where we bring a full kitchen

  • Location & accessibility – travel distance and how easy the venue is to work in

  • Staffing – whether waiters/servers are needed (usually linked to the style of service)

  • Crockery & cutlery – disposable eco options are more affordable; hired crockery includes hire fees, cleaning fees, and a damage deposit

  • Add-ons, such as:

    • canapés

    • desserts and sweet treats

    • evening food for the party

We can do as much or as little as you need, but naturally, each additional element will shape the final quote.

The best way to get an accurate idea is to get in touch and chat through your vision, I can then build something tailored to you.

“What type of cutlery and crockery do you offer?”

This is completely flexible and it really depends on the style you’re going for.

We can provide:

  • Eco-friendly disposable options (palm leaf plates, bamboo cutlery) — simple, sustainable, and more budget-friendly

  • Standard reusable crockery (mid-range; includes a cleaning fee and damage deposit)

  • Styled wedding tableware to match your aesthetic — including specific chinaware and curated looks (most expensive- will also include a cleaning fee and damamge deposit)

Each option comes with a different cost, depending on hire, cleaning, and logistics.

We’ll always help guide you towards what works best for your vision, budget, and overall feel of the day.

“What style of catering do you offer?”

This really depends on your vision.

I’ve worked across:

  • Sharing feasts

  • Buffet-style spreads

  • Plated dining

  • More relaxed, informal setups

Most couples tend to lean towards abundant, sharing-style meals, as they create a really warm and communal atmosphere, but we can shape this in whatever way suits your day best.

“Do you travel for weddings?”

Yes, I do.

While I’m based in Devon, I regularly travel for weddings across the South West, as well as further afield including Wales, Sussex, and beyond.

I also cater retreats internationally, so I’m very used to working in different locations and adapting to new spaces.

“When should we book?”

As early as you can.

Wedding dates, especially in peak season, do get booked up quite far in advance. If you already have a date and are considering working together, it’s always worth reaching out sooner rather than later to check availability.

“What happens after we enquire?”

Once you get in touch, we’ll reach out to start with a conversation, usually a call, to understand your vision, your preferences, and what you’re looking for.

From there, I’ll begin shaping a menu proposal that reflects everything we’ve discussed.

It’s a collaborative process, and one I really enjoy. Getting to know each couple and creating something that feels right for them.

A final note:

If you’re considering vegan catering for your wedding, it’s likely because you care: about the food, your guests, and the experience you’re creating.

My role is to take that vision and bring it to life in a way that feels relaxed, thoughtful, and genuinely enjoyable for everyone involved.

If you have questions that aren’t covered here, you’re always welcome to reach out.

I’d love to hear about what you’re planning.
